Hey sisters! I'm so sorry for the long "break in transmission". Been busy with school. Glad to say that I'm back.
Alot of girls have been having questions concerning their natural hair. So today am going to answer a few of those questions.
Q1. Is it compulsory to do big-chop?
Ans. Well, two posts before this, I mentioned that is a matter of choice. Some girls have had nice hair length and the thought of cutting all that seems scary. If this is the case, you can leave your hair length and just go through with the transitioning. This will take longer time than big-chop and lots of patience.
Q2. How will one wash long transitioning hair?
Ans. Am only going to say what worked for me. I made my hair into cornrows, about 5 or 6. This takes longer wash time and also patience because the hair is locked up a bit. The benefit of this wash style is that you get to comb each row out one by one, instead of having to deal with whole tangled hair.
Q3. While transitioning with long hair, what hair styles can one make?
Ans. During the transition process, one needs what we call Protective Styles(PS). The PS helps to allow d undergrowth grow. I personally found some helpful PS on this website: www.Pinterest.com
Q4. For how long would one transition long hair?
Ans. Many girls have this time problem. It's either they're too scared too cut it off or they're too scared to face the challenges. To reduce the time period and also to make one feel comfortable with her hair, she can frequently cut/trim small portions of the hair every wash day. We call this "small chop". This allows you to still carry a reasonable hair length and you not feeling bad about it. Whatever you do would determine how long your transition period would last.
Well girls, I can only take that much today. More questions and their answers would be considered as soon as i get them. Reach me on IG @quin_barbz.
